1. We have learned a lot about Brian during his efforts to survive. What are some of Brian's character traits that you have learned about him that you admire?
(a) State the character trait.
(b) Tell how the character trait has affected Brian's survival.
(c) Be sure to cite examples from the novel that support the character traits you admire.
Character trait /quick learner.
ReplyDeleteHow it has affected his survival / he knows what he needs to do.
Cite EX. He learned he need air to make a fire.
- Tyler Wood.
I like the character trait you gave Brian because if Brian wasn't a quick learner he wouldn't get much done. I also agree because if Brian wasn't a quick learner he wouldn't be able to build or hunt which are two very important things.
Delete1. We have learned a lot about Brian during his efforts to survive. What are some of Brian's character traits that you have learned about him that you admire?
ReplyDelete(a) State the character trait.
(b) Tell how the character trait has affected Brian's survival.
(c) Be sure to cite examples from the novel that support the character traits you admire.
A. I think Brian is BRAVE.
B. This has affected Brain's survival because if Brian wasn't brave then he would have been to scared to get anything done.
C. A few examples of Brain being brave are how he took control of the plane when the pilot died, he got up when he was hurt to find/build a shelter, he went off to look for food when he was starving and tiered and he didn't try to run or try to do anything stupid when he encountered the bear.
I think if Brain weren't so Brave that his survival chances would have been at risk.
I also think Brains bravery will help him in the rest of the book to.
I like your answer John , but I disagree about Brian not being scared because at the end of chapter 12 Brian cried because he felt scared about not being found.
DeleteBrian might have cried but he didn't break down. He still dealt with it and I bet he'll get over it soon because he usually gets upset but then gets over it.
DeleteGood response but building shelter isn't exactly brave but thats my opinion.
Delete1. A character trait is that he is not a quitter
ReplyDelete2 It affects Brian's survival because if he stops trying then he will end up no where. He would just be sitting there waiting for someone even though someone might not come.
3. Some examples of Brian not being a quitter are he didn't know how to make a fire until he thought of the 20 dollar bill in his pocket. Another example is that he kept studying the foot prints from the water to the sand.
you mean persistent???
DeleteJohn, what do u mean by persistent?
DeleteCamryn John is basically taking quitter and making it into a more intelligent word they mean the same thing.
DeleteNot a quitter and persistent mean the same thing Cam.
DeleteYAH
DeleteOh ok
Delete1. {a} One character trait that i like about Brian is that he has the ability to look back over in past years what he has learned about and what did he learn it from.
ReplyDelete{b] When Brian thinks back, he thinks about his situation and if anything he has learned will help him survive.
{c} One example of this is when Brian thinks about his teacher Mr. Pirpich in order to find out what he has and to stay positive. Other examples include when he thought if he had ever had been taught to drink or not drink out of the lake or what he needs to make a fire.

DeleteI like how you described you're character traits and the examples you gave from the novel, good response.
DeleteThanks!
DeleteCharacter trait / quick learner
ReplyDeleteHow it has affected his survival /he knows what he needs
Cite EX. He now knows that he needs air to make a fire.
Tyler Wood
Your answer is correct but I think there is more character traits then that
Delete~Malachi Etoniru
I like how you say he is a quick learner.
DeleteA character trait that I admire about Brian is that he his determined to find a hearty meal. This affects Brian's survival because it helps him to get more strength and nutrition from one meal. An example of this is that he tried extremely hard to catch fish to eat. He wasn't very successful but I love how he will keep trying until he is successful.
ReplyDeleteGood job Taylor I liked when you said the that he can find a hearty meal.
Delete: )
1. (a) State the character trait.
ReplyDelete(b) Tell how the character trait has affected Brian's survival.
(c) Be sure to cite examples from the novel that support the character traits your naming
I think some character traits of Brian are he does not give up what he is doing , this effects him because he gets things done quicker. He is a fast learner , This effects him because he knows what he is doing quickly.
Examples of those character traits above is that he was thinking of not doing any thing but sitting there but since he does not give up he did not. For the other character trait is he was able to make his fire quickly because he is a fast learner.
~Malachi Etoniru
I like your response Malachi, I like how you said that you admire how Brian is a fast learner.
DeleteOne of Brian's character traits that I admire is that he is good at figuring things out. It has helped him with survival because throughout the novel he has remembered things from experiences in the city to help him build things like the lean-to and the fire.
ReplyDeleteI like your response because you said he is a fast learner and that includes everything that he learned how to do
DeleteCharacter Trait; How To Keep The Fire Going
ReplyDeleteAffected Survival; It affected his survival because he now has light in the dark and he can now make make a "safety fire" if he hears a plane coming
Admire: I like that he thought about a fire and knew how to make one and knows how to keep the fire going. I admire that he knows how to do the trait.
that's not a character trait that's just a skill.
Delete~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
ReplyDeleteA) One is Never give up, no matter what
B) It has helped him get threw many problems threw out the novel.
C) Some examples are how he crashed the plane, found shelter, found food sources, protect himself and to make a fire. In these ways he had to keep thinking and work hard (for most of them).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I like how you said he never gives up because its true he tries and tries and I never thought of that....
Delete(b) Tell "HOW" the character trait has affected Brian's survival.
Deletejohn, Emily was stating that in the novel, he wants to give up but he does not and that helps him get things done.
DeleteA: Brian is very cooperative and learns quickly and he faces many problems but he always solves it on his own and even if he doesn't know what or how to solve it he figures it out.
ReplyDeleteB: It affects his survival because if he needs to do something and he doesn't know how he asks himself did I see or learn anything about this stuff?
C: EXAMPLE.......... Brian needed to build the fire but he didn't know how so he thought to himself did the teachers say this is how you need to build a fire and he thinks and thinks until he gets the answer.
1. A character trait I like most about Brian is his WILL.
ReplyDelete2. This character trait has affected Brian in his survival by not letting him give up and pushing on when he thought and almost knew he was about to die he just keeps figuring things out that will help him get through this part of his life instead of dying because he was waiting for someone to come looking for him.
3. An example of this is when he was making a fire and it took him multiple tries but he did not give up and he eventually figured it out. Another example of this trait is when he was flying he didn't just panic start crying and wait until he died and crashed, he gathers his thoughts and started flying the plane until it was running out of gas then he figured out where he wanted to land and aimed for it.
I like how you said that his will to live was stronger than his thoughts about dyeing.
Delete(A) Character Trait: Brave
ReplyDelete(B) Effect: Helped him survive
(C) Examples: He tried to fly the plane, tried to make the fire, tried to contact somebody in the plane he flew, had the encounter with the bear and he "landed" in the lake.
[a] Fast learner and braveness
ReplyDelete[b] It helped him make a fire, find food and water, make a shelter and explore.
[c] He found out the basics of survival quickly and he was not afraid to be in the forest alone.
1.] Quick learner
ReplyDelete2.]helped him find food, make a fire, get water and have shelter, and he is getting smarter every time he does this.
3.]He had gotten used to the forest, and he now has a friend named fire, and he doesn't feel alone again or afraid
Good job Nate I liked how you explained the character trait and how you said it helped him in survival.
Delete(a) State the character trait.
ReplyDeleteA character trait I admire about Brian is that he does not give up and he is not a quitter.
(b) Tell how the character trait has affected Brian's survival.
Brian not being a quitter has affected Brian because it has made him work harder at things he does to help himself survive because if he quit trying after the first fail he would just be sitting there waiting for someone to show up and help him even though they might not come.
(c) Be sure to cite examples from the novel that support the character traits you admire.
Some examples of when Brian did not give up from the novel are when he tried multiple times to make a fire, when he did not give up on trying to find out what the animal tracks were, when he did not give up on trying to make the sphere to catch the fish, and when he didn't give up on himself when he realized he had no experience with surviving because he is from the city.
Good job Cami , I like that you said if he failed he would not quit and kept trying (perseverance).
Delete1 Brian is very brave and smart when he needs to be.
ReplyDelete2.When Brian needs to do the right thing he is under pressure and he thinks better and gets through it but when he isn't under presure he will make silly mistakes.
3.Like when Brian encountered the bear he did not move , by his knowledge he stood still like a statue and the bear went away , which saved his life because if he ran he would have died. So therefore Brian probably works better under pressure.
Dear William, I did not think of Brian as brave because he was so fearful but he did face his fears which really does make him brave.
Delete(A) A character trait that I admire of Brian's is his never giving up or perseverance.
ReplyDelete(B) This trait has effected Brian because he has been through some very tough times in the novel and although he has felt like giving up at times, he keeps trying or persevering..
(C) Examples of times in the novel when he used this trait is: 1) When the plane was crashing and he was trying to contact the airport and he kept trying to send a message an it wouldn't go until he figured out he had to say "Over" 2) when he was trying to build a fire and it would not ignite so he kept trying lots of different things to get it going. He figured after lots of tries he needed oxygen ignite the fire. 3) Brian needed a food source. At first, he tried gut cherries, but he kept getting sick. Then he found the raspberries and tried them. He then found turtle eggs and ate them. And he is continuing to try and find a way to catch fish.
I like how you listed several ways how never giving up affercted Brians survival good job.
Delete- Bisola Fakayode
(A) A character trait I like that Brian has is Brian never gives up.
ReplyDelete(B) This character trait has effected Brians survival because it helps him want to survive and it gives Brian the will to stay alive.
(C) Examples of this are when Brian was crying and when it seemed to him that the searches would never come Brian didn't give up he stopped pitying himself and tried to see what could benefit his survival.
- Bisola Fakayode
1. (a) The character traits that I admire about Brian are his resourcefulness, persistence and cleverness.
(b + c) The character trait "resourceful" affected Brian's survival when Brian peeled off the birch bark from the birch tree to help ignite the fire. The character trait "persistence" affects his survival because his first few attempts at making fire did not work and he tried until it did. When Brian's character trait "cleverness" affected his survival was when he decided to land the plane at the edge of the lake. He did this so that he would not crash into the trees and also so that he would not go too far into the lake so that he would not
be able to swim out.
1. (a) Character Traits / Perseverance Determined
ReplyDelete(b) How have character traits affected Brian's survival? / It is important he does not give up or stop working because if he does he won't survive.
(c) Examples of perseverance and determination? / Spending hours at making a fire and never giving up. He is also determined because when he sets his mind to something he doesn't stop until he gets it done. For example, when he makes the fish spear Brian worked until the point on the fish spear was perfectly sharp and if it hit a fish the fish would be speared.
Hunter Colson
1. Hopeful.
ReplyDelete2. It helps because he almost always hopes they will come.
3. I like how he's always hopeful that the search team will come one day.
I like what you listed, but however I think you could add a little more detail to your response. ~Kelly Lee
Delete1. a) Character traits ) Perseverance: To not give up; to keep going
ReplyDelete2. b) trait's affects ) He is determined to not give up on surviving while he is in the Canadian woods. But if he does give up he will die/ not survive
3. c) EXAMPLES OF HIS TRAITS
1. Didn't stop trying to make a fire
2. Knew to stop crying and not give up/ lose his hope
3. Making a fish spear; until it works
I really admire this trait because it actually is helpful, if you sit and cry like Brian did in the beginning, you wont get anywhere. But if you don't give up and start doing something, you actually can achieve something. ~Kelly Lee
good response Kelly you gave good examples or his traits you should get a check plus
Delete1. A trait of Brian's is thinking of the future and that helps him to survive because he knows what he needs like food, water and shelter in the text when he first gets up after the crash he says ," I have to find a water source to survive."
ReplyDeleteI love your reply you explained much detail this is your best one
Delete1. Although Brian wanted to die he now realizes he can't die and can't let that kind of madness take over again. He is now going to try to not let that happen by making himself a "new Brian" with tough hope.
ReplyDelete2. Brian means that since he is the "new Brian" he could start over and be a strong/tough Brian. He has hope in the new Brian because he now believes in himself.
Hunter Colson
