HELLO, FABULOUS FIFTH GRADE! BELOW ARE YOUR RESPONSE QUESTIONS FOR CHPTR. 4, OF HATCHET:
1. In Chptr. 4, Brian thinks..."It was over then. The crash". He was alive. The crash is over and I am alive; he thought. Then his eyes closed and he lowered his head for minutes that seemed longer. When he opened them again it was evening. . .
In the above event from Chptr. 4, what can we infer happened to Brian? Explain your reasoning. Be specific.
2. In Chptr. 4, as Brian looked at his surroundings, again, he could see the reflections of the trees at the other end of the lake. Upside down in the water they seemed like another forest, an upside-down forest to match the real one.
Explain what is meant by the above (red) sentence. Use details and be specific.
Brian survived on a small bit of the forest after he crash landed and he either passed out or he fell asleep
ReplyDeleteI liked how you explained what happened to the plane and what you think happened to Brian
Delete1. I think what happened to Brian was he crashed and he was alive. So he got out the plane and kept saying "I am alive"
ReplyDelete2. It seemed like another forest because Brian was already in the forest so when he looked down at the lake and saw it seemed like there was another forest around him with the one forest already there
Dear Camryn,
DeleteI loved your answer to number 2 but your answer to number 1 could use more explaining.
Taylor :)
He saw the things that were happening through looking at the reflection s of of the stream
ReplyDeleteGood response but it was a lake not a stream
DeleteHP
Who cares
DeleteHe was just pointing it out, Nicholas. I think you did an excellent job explaining why he was seeing those things though.
Delete1. What i think happened to Brian is that he wanted to rest his eyes for only a few minutes, but instead he fell asleep because he was exhausted from all that has happened such as the plane crash, the pilot, and he was alone.
ReplyDelete2.When Brian looked at the forest in the lake, he is really looking at the reflection of the forest in the water. Since it is like a mirror reflection it is upside down.
I like how you explained how Brian was tiered in Q1 and in Q2 I like how you gave detail about what the water did to the forest and how the reflection makes it upside down.

DeleteGood response, i liked how you referenced the lake to a mirror because of a reflection.
DeleteThank you will!

ReplyDeleteI like how for the second question you mentioned the bird that he saw in the reflection, and for one how you have a theory that he may have something wrong from when he hit his head. ~-Emily Scott-~
DeleteI love how in the second question how you made it simple. In number 1 i don't get why you said that you refereed back to chapter 1 or 2. Can you please try to answer as soon as possible.
DeleteI made new one
DeleteBrian was ether tired from the flying the plane, and having to crash land the plane, or he had passed out again because he had already blacked out or pass out in the past chapter. If it was because he was tired, then it was from the hard work of him trying to keep the plane level after the pilot had a heart attack and died and landing the plane without any gas, and loss of energy.
ReplyDeleteFor the other question, I believe it means that the reflection looked exactly like the real forest that he is now in, but it was like a mirror, made it look the same way, because of this, it looked like another forest was right there on the lake he had landed in. ~Emily Scott~
I like how you said you knew he blacked out in the last chapter and so he might have blacked out again and you used what you read from the other chapter for the most part I think you response was good.
Delete1. In chapter 4 we can infer that when the text says that he closed his eyes and when he opened them it was evening that it meant that he fell asleep. I got this information by looking back at the text and saw that it said that the minutes felt long. I know farther in the text that it talked about his dream and about the divorce. So I took the information i already knew and read more of the text and put it together to get that he was dreaming.
ReplyDelete2. I got my answer for problem 2 by thinking about when I've seen a reflection in a lake. I know that if your sitting in the right spot that you see whats in front of you backwards. So, when it says that the forest looked like two because of the reflection it means that there was the actual forest and the reflection made the trees face the real forest so it looked like two forests.
I like how you explained how you got your answer.
Delete~Malachi
I think he either passed out or fell asleep because he was so tired.
ReplyDeleteHP
1. In Chapter. 4, Brian thinks..."It was over then. The crash". He was alive. The crash is over and I am alive; he thought. Then his eyes closed and he lowered his head for minutes that seemed longer. When he opened them again it was evening. . . So I think that what it was really trying to say is that he fell asleep because it sais when he opened his eyes again it was evening so.
ReplyDeleteUpside down in the water they seemed like another forest, an upside-down forest to match the real one. I think that what it really was saying I that he was seeing the forest upside down cause he's seeing the reflection of the forest.
~Malachi
2. I think it was the mirror reflection because the lake was clear so it reflected the forest
ReplyDeleteHP
You did good HP but I think you could add some more to make it better. - Vasea Cebotari
Delete1.I can infer that Brian got so hurt in the crash that made him feel so bad and made him fall asleep and wake hours later
ReplyDelete2.what the author meant was that Brian saw the reflection on the water and thought it was the two of the same thing.
I like what you said about number 1 how he past out from pain and how on number 2 that you used what you thought the author was thinking at the current time period
DeleteIn Chptr. 4, Brian thinks..."It was over then. The crash". He was alive. The crash is over and I am alive; he thought. Then his eyes closed and he lowered his head for minutes that seemed longer. When he opened them again it was evening. . .
ReplyDeleteI think that Brian had past out from pain because in the text it says that Brian had hurt his legs so badly he could barely even move them so he could have blacked out from pain
In Chptr. 4, as Brian looked at his surroundings, again, he could see the reflections of the trees at the other end of the lake. Upside down in the water they seemed like another forest, an upside-down forest to match the real one.
I think that the water is so clear in the lake that he is seeing a reflection of the real world from a different point of view
job Tyler I like how you did the question and the answer so readers can know what you are talking about
DeleteFor question number 1 I think that Brian was tired and confused because he was just in a plane crash and had to get out of the water and so he rested but fell asleep.
ReplyDeleteFor the 2nd question Brian probably was looking at the waters reflection because you can only see something exactly the same if you had a mirror or water but it says that the water was clear.
~*SALLY KWAK*
Good Job!! Sally I liked how you went back to the text to get your answer.=)
Delete1. I think in chapter 4 that Brian was shaken by the crash and he was confused how he survived. Also I think Brian needed a while to take in what happened because his memory kept coming and going. Another theory of mine (in chapter 4) is something might be wrong with his brain since he was hit in the head by the steering wheel (<----don't know what controls on planes are) and its so swollen and tender.
ReplyDelete2. In chapter 4 when they talked about the lake and how everything was upside down In the text it was talking about how Brian saw the reflection of everything like the forest and the bird.

Great job John I like how you said all the things about how Brian might have hit his head and his thoughts were coming and going. ~ Gabrielle Stevenson
Deletethanks
DeleteI like how you added the details about what he said about his head being crispy and tender
Deleteswollen and tender LOL
Delete1. I think what Gary was trying to explain was that after he had crashed he had been so dizzy or tired he just need to rest for a few moments. Another reason maybe after he crashed he was so shocked that he just needed a moment to realize what had happened.
ReplyDelete2. I think what this meant was that after Brian had crashed he was looking at the lake and saw a reflection of what was behind him or what was in front of him. Like most of the time a lake or any other surface of water has a reflection of what is around it.
Blog Response // September 22, 2015 // ~ Kelly Lee
Dear Kelly~I like the way you said how Brian was dizzy after the crash and how you explained the reflection of the lake towards the forest.~Jaymison Sharp
Delete1. I think that Brian survived the plane crash and was so surprised he couldn't stop saying "I'm alive"
ReplyDelete2.I think that Brian was looking at two forests because of the reflection in the water and he was at the angle where he could see the forest from the reflection and the real forest too.
Q1:Will i see where your coming from but I don't get how that has to do with the question.
DeleteQ2: Awesome i love how you inferred the reflection.
i see what you mean i didn't read the question right i meant to say that Brian was so tired that when he closed his eyes, he fell asleep for so long that when he woke up it was evening
Delete1. I think he got out of the plane and had fallen asleep when he got on land. 2. It means there was a reflection of the forest in the water and the trees were on the other side of the lake so their reflection looks upside down. - Vasea Cebotari
ReplyDelete1. I think Brian was very dizzy and confused since he just got out of a plane crash.
ReplyDelete2. I think when Brian said he saw another set of trees in the lake he meant he saw the reflection of the trees in the lake. ~Gabrielle Stevenson
1. I think that Brian either fell asleep or fainted from the pure exhaustion of flying a plane, being in a plane crash, and having to swim himself to "safety".
ReplyDelete2. I think that Brian was seeing a mirror image on the lake of the forest around him but since mirrors show you things backwards the showed it to Brian upside down.
Taylor McGlashing
My first thought was that he fell asleep but he could defiantly have passed out.
DeleteDear Taylor,
DeleteI think you did a fantastic job on this response. I also love the way you explained his exhaustion on number 1. I think on number 2 you did good explaining the mirror reflection
Thank you
DeleteYour welcome!☺
Delete1. We can infer that after the crash Brian went to sleep because he closed his eyes and then when he opened them it was evening. We can also infer that it was daytime when Brian closed his eyes because he would not have mentioned that it was evening if already was.
ReplyDelete2. What Brian meant was that the lake was reflecting the forest. To him it looked like there was an exact replica of the forest in the lake, except it was upside down.
Question 1: We can infer that Bryan fell asleep because in chapter four it says"Then his eyes closed and he lowered his head for minutes that seemed longer. When he opened them again it was evening. This infers Bryan fell asleep.
ReplyDeleteQuestion2: Bryan is saying the reflection of the trees looks upside down because there are trees on both sides of the pond and from where he is standing it looks like the trees are upside down an it looks like a upside down forest a different forest.
1. In Chapter. 4, Brian thinks..."It was over then. The crash". He was alive. The crash is over and I am alive; he thought. Then his eyes closed and he lowered his head for minutes that seemed longer. When he opened them again it was evening. . . I can infer that Brian fell asleep. I know that because the author said e was dreaming about his parents divorce and you dream when you sleep, so that probably that he was sleeping. Also he could have been sleeping because he was tired from flying the plane, crashing the plane, swimming and from being in so much pain.
ReplyDelete2. Upside down in the water they seemed like another forest, an upside-down forest to match the real one. That means that Brian saw a reflection on the lake of the forest which made it look like there is 2 forest. It also could have been that when Brian hit his head off the steering wheel he could have gotten dizzy and seen double of everything.
1. It is believed that Brian fell asleep during this time frame considering all of the events he had been through and his body was just exhausted. Brian had to swim after the crash causing him to throw up and his lungs to not produce enough oxygen to keep him awake.
ReplyDelete2. The sentence: Upside down in the water they seemed like another forest, an upside-down forest to match the real. The lake acted as a mirror reflecting the real forest making one believe there really was another forest which was upside down. ~Jaymison Sharp
I like the way you decided to go with something different from everyone else's response! I also like the way you explained in detail. Your explaining for Q2 was amazing, and if i were a person who hadn't read CH 4 but I read this "summary" I would understand better about CH 4 ~ Kelly Lee
Delete1. he thought that he was dead from the crash but he was alive then he turned around in the water and fell asleep and when he woke up it was evening 2. he saw 2 forests evenly matching because his head was fuzzy from the crash because he hit his head really hard on the steering wheel
