2. In the psalm that Peter read, it is quoted as saying, "It is he who heals the broken in spirit and binds up their wounds,....he who numbers the stars one by one". What do you think Peter's quote means? What does it have to do with the plot of the novel? Explain.
1. In Chptr. 10, after the soldiers left Uncle Henrik's, Peter took out his bible and began to read a psalm. Why do you think Uncle Henrik continued with the "funeral"? Explain and be specific.
ReplyDelete#1. I think that Uncle Henrik continued with the "funeral" because they have to get Ellen and her family plus some other Jewish people to Sweden, to safety. If they did not then if the Nazi soldiers found them they will get in TROUBLE!
2. In the psalm that Peter read, it is quoted as saying, "It is he who heals the broken in spirit and binds up their wounds,....he who numbers the stars one by one". What do you think Peter's quote means? What does it have to do with the plot of the novel? Explain.
#2. I think that the quote that Peter read meant that even though you are hurt, sad,or feel like something isn't going to happen, he (god) is helping you to believe that you can survive and the "he who numbers the stars one by one" means that HE ISN'T NUMBERING THE STARS BUT THE PEOPLE WHO PROBABLY LOST THEIR LIFE BEING A JEW.
Live your number 2 it is amazing how you describe the paslm and it's meaning.
DeleteI think uncle Henrik kept going with the funeral of " great aunt birte " because he was trying to make it look real so if there were any soldiers that were watching so they didn't get suspicious that something was not right and find out there is no great aunt birte.
ReplyDelete2} the paslm means that he is god healing the broken sports means bring people together and forming bonds binds up their wounds means that he heals the injured and he counts the stars means all of the deaths of the innocent people.
#1 I think they continued with the "funeral" to trow off the Nazi soldiers and think it was "funeral" . I do don't think the Nazi soldiers thought it was a "funeral" but they threw the soldier off just enough to leave them alone.
ReplyDelete#2 I think it had to do with the plot because Number the Stars is the book title. It is also showing that they have a belief in god and that God can help them through this time of trouble.
I like how you said they wanted to throw of the Soldiers.
Delete1. I think Uncle Henrik continued because earlier Mama and Uncle Henrik lied to the soldiers about Great Aunt Birte and there still could be soldiers listening from outside the window. I also think he kept going because he wanted everybody to be safe, so he just said a psalms verse.
ReplyDelete2.I think the quote means it's how God is taking care of us because everybody was scared. Each one sitting in the room was doing something they shouldn't be doing.Peter is reminding them that they always have God with them. It has to do with the novel because in the story people are scared, but other people when they are scared they rely on God.
I like how you said he was trying to keep everyone safe. JOHN HIPES
Delete1. I think Peter continued the "funeral" in case he Nazis were outside listening and watching them. Peter did it for affect of making the funeral seem real, also I think he was "keeping everyone in character" by making it not only seem real to the soldiers but to the people to because if he sells it to everyone there might be a less chance of someone slipping up.
ReplyDelete2. I think the quote "It is He who heals the broken in spirit and binds up their wounds,....he who numbers the stars one by one" means that the lord will protect them and heal them. I think it has to do with the plot of the novel because on there journey to escape they will be protected and healed by the lord, I also think "Number Of The Stars" gives the effect of how amazing and powerful the lord is.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!JOHN HIPES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GREAT JOB I LIKED HOW YOU SAID THAT "NUMBER THE STARS" GIVES THE EFFECT OF HOW AMAZING AND POWERFUL GOD IS.
Delete**SALLY K.**
I think that Uncle Henrik continued the "funeral" to not raise any suspicion that he was lying because, although they heard the German Nazis' car leave he knew that they might be outside, listening to every word they said, and possibly recording it.
ReplyDeleteI think that this quote is showing the power and intricacy of God, how wonderful he is and his exquisite love for all of us and can bind up any wound that we have, physically or emotionally.
1. The funeral continued because it was not a real funeral and there was no Great Aunt Berta. Also Uncle Henrik did not want the Nasi soilders getting suspicious that it was not a real funeral.
ReplyDelete2. I think that Peters reading from the Bible means that God will bless them through what ever is to come for all of them. Also I think it means that God will take care of the dead.
1. I think he continued with the funeral because in the text when Annemarie yelled “Mama” her mother shook her head quickly and glanced at the open window. Annemarie understood that there might still be soldiers out there watching or listening, so Uncle Henrik was trying to act like it was a normal funeral so it didn’t look our sound suspicious.
ReplyDelete2.I think Peter’s quote means that God cares about everyone and knows everyone. The plot is to get the Jewish people to safety and that is like saying that we should care about everyone no matter what religion they belong to.
Hunter Colson
I liked how you said that God cares about them.
Delete1. Uncle Henrik continued with the "funeral" so the nazi soldiers wouldn't be suspicious about what they were really going to do.
ReplyDelete2.I think that this means that God was Numbering all the "stars" which were actually the Jewish people who have died harshly by the Nazis and that God was with them all while they were trying to escape to Sweden.

Will that is such a AWSOME response and you did it with such few words that is amazingly good

1) I think he continued with the funeral because they wanted to continue making it look like a real funeral. Annemarie tried to hug her mom but her mom shook her head because " the window was open and there might still be soldiers outside, watching, listening". If the Nazis heard them pretending they would have no suspicion.
ReplyDelete2)What the quote means is that God is healing Jewish peoples "broken spirts" of fear and no hope because of the Nazis and "binding their wounds" of the Nazis beating them, starving them, killing them. " He who numbers the stars one by one"is God knowing each Jewish person one by one and everything that's happened them. This relates to the plot because its describing the Jewish people and how their getting tortured.
Dear Roman, I like both of your responses because you added a lot of detail.
DeleteQ1:I think Uncle Henrik continued with the funeral because incase any Nazis soldiers were watching them that they wouldn't look suspicious
ReplyDeleteQ2:What the quote means is that god will heal the jewish peoples broken spirits and their "mental wounds" and help them get passed what they saw.

I like how u said how God will heal the Jewish people ~Joshua Hubbard
DeleteI liked how you mentioned the Jewish people's metal wounds good job

1) I think that they continued on with the funeral because the Nazis could be listening.
ReplyDelete2) I think the quote means that God will heal everyone and i think that it has to do with the plot of the novel because the novel is about World War ll and a lot of people are getting killed and hurt badly including the Jewish people.
1. The funeral continued because in the chapter Mrs.Johansen told Annemarie to say nothing because there might be solders outside listening,so they continued so it could look like a real funeral to the soldiers if they were listening outside the house.
ReplyDelete2. The quote meant that even if you're hurt emotionally or physically God will make everything better even though it might not seem like it at the time.
-Bisola Fakayode
1. Uncle Henrik continued the "funeral" because so they could make the Nazi's think it was a real funeral. 2. I think it means that someone will reunite family member's (jewish people) and will have them connect in heart with each other
ReplyDeleteI like how you said that Uncle Henrik did it to make the Nazis think it was a real funeral :).
Delete2. It connects with the novel because the jewish people are running from Hitler and the Nazi's and that Ellen was separated from her family but they got reunited
ReplyDelete1. In Chptr. 10, after the soldiers left Uncle Henrik's, Peter took out his bible and began to read a psalm. Why do you think Uncle Henrik continued with the "funeral"? Explain and be specific.
ReplyDelete1. I think Uncle Henrik continued with the funeral so that the Nazis did not find out what they were up to. They thought the Nazis were still listening, even though they left, because they knew that the Nazis were smart. The Nazis knew that if anyone was doing anything suspicious they would not show proof of it while they were there so, after some of the Nazis left, one or two would stay behind and spy. Uncle Henrik knew this and so proceded with the funeral after the Nazis left.
2. In the psalm that Peter read, it is quoted as saying, "It is he who heals the broken in spirit and binds up their wounds,....he who numbers the stars one by one". What do you think Peter's quote means? What does it have to do with the plot of the novel? Explain.
2. I think that Peter's quote means that some kind people (he)are picking out people in need (the stars) and helping them (numbering them). They also gave them hope and something to live for (binding their wounds). This quote relates to the book because kind people helped the Jewish people get to safety in Sweden and gave them hope.
1. I think they continued the "funeral" because they didn't know if the soldiers were watching and listening to them, so they thought it would probably be safest if they continued the funeral.
ReplyDelete2. I think the quote means God is healing the people(stars) that have been hurt and to give them hope and spirit during the times they need it. It relates to the novel because during World War II a lot of people, especially Jewish people were getting hurt and they needed hope and healing.
amazing job on the last one!
Delete-OLIVIA
1. I think uncle hendrick continued with the funeral because the Natzis might be listening to it so they used code to look normal.
ReplyDelete2. I think this means that the resistance was taken the Jewish people one by one to Sweden which would "heal them" with freedom. I think the number the stars one by one means taking the Jewish people to Sweden one by one. Stars means Jewish people ( Star of David),
1. Peter continued with the "funeral" because the Nazis could still be listening since there already so,suspicious. you can tell Peter is being cautious because on page.86 he looks out the window.
ReplyDelete2.Peter's quote was read from an old bible. It is talking about God being powerful and has the power, to help the Jewish people in this hard time. In the last part of the quote it says "he who numbers the stars one by one," means if he knows how many stars there are he can help them with there daring and risky journey ahead. Even though the verse wasn't specific it was what they had needed/wanted to hear.
-Olivia
1. I think he continued with it so the Nazis will not spot suspicioun in them so they will be able to send the Jewish people to Sweden safely.
ReplyDelete2. I think the psalm means that God is powerful and can heal those with no hope like the Jewish people and numbering the stars refers to the Jewish people and the Star of David.
I like both your responses. It answer's the question in a short sentence or two. Keep on going. Emily Richards
DeleteI think they carried on the "funeral" because if the Nazis were eavesdropping and they stopped and started to talk about escape then the Nazis would hear and probably (most likely) kill EVERYONE there.
ReplyDeleteThis is why i think they carried on the "funeral" for Great Aunt Birte.
2. I think it is implying how powerful God is and all the stuff he can do. I think it has to do with the novel by that everything will turn out to be OK .Emily Richards
1. I think that they carried out the funeral as a distraction in case the Nazi soldiers were still listening because they were so of why suspicious everyone was walking into Uncle Henricks house. Them carrying out the funeral would just look normal instead of freaking out about the soldiers.
ReplyDelete2. When Peter reads the book of Psalm, I think that when he says that he will number the stars as the Jews and healing their spirits so they will be brave enough to go on this dangerous journey to say all the Jews and if they get wounded along the way, God will heal them so they can continue
I think Peter kept going on with the psalm because the soldiers could have been paying attention and listening to them because if the soldiers were still there They world of hurt their plan if they talked about it so they had to go on with the funeral or else the soldiers knew something was suspicious
ReplyDeleteI think that in the passage when it says it is he who binds up their wounds and heals the soul means that they help their soul and relieve them of their sins and when it says they bind up their wounds is that they are closing up their wounds and slowly taking their pain away
ReplyDelete
