HELLO, FABULOUS FIFTH GRADE! BELOW IS YOUR RESPONSE QUESTION FOR HATCHET:
1. Although we have NOT read Chptr. 19 yet, Chptr. 19 begins with the word "TREASURE". Not too far into the chapter, Brian references that he has stumbled upon "INCREDIBLE WEALTH". Predict and explain what Brian might mean from the quoted, bold printed words. Be specific.
I think that Brian might mean that he has resources upon resources that make his life easier, he has a lot of "money" that can "buy" food and protection. He now has everything he needs to live in the wilderness, maybe not forever but a enough time to give him a chance to regroup after the tornado.
ReplyDeleteI like your response, but money has nothing to do with his situation in the wilderness because in his situation it is worth nothing
DeleteI was using it as a metaphor to explain why he has incredible wealth
Delete1.I think it means that if he opened the survival pick [ which I assume he did ] but in the survival pack there had to be something that had a lot of value to it. I think that because at the beginning it starts with " TREASURE" and I think that something is worth a whole lot.
ReplyDeleteI like how you added details of its value but you could have added what could be in the survival pack
DeleteI like how you said that there might be something in the kit that has great value or might help Brian.
DeleteI think it means that Brian had found something that had meant a lot to him so he considered it as treasure like Tom did in the adventures of Tom sawyer when Tom gets his stuff from the people that traded Tom to do his whitewashing for him.
ReplyDeleteGood job I like tell you insTom Sawyer in your response
DeleteHe might be saying that because with the survival pack, he now has many riches like knives, cooking supplies and ect
ReplyDeleteGOOD

I liked
how
you
did
a
short
response
but a
good
one
too.
I like your answer, maybe more words could have been used.
Delete1. I think “Treasure” and “incredible wealth” means that the survival pack could contain lots of survival resources. Brian said in the previous chapter that he would be rich if he could get the survival pack and rich means about the same thing as “incredible wealth”.
ReplyDeleteHunter Colson
Good job Hunter I like how you talked about Brian finding resources, but maybe try to list some things that Brian could have found.
DeleteI liked your response and how you mention resources

#1. I think that when Brian says "TRESURE" and "INCREDIBLE WEALTH" it means that Brian has these things he could use to make everything so easier at living in the wilderness and he calls it his treasures because its valuable to him because it could be so useful for MANY things. "INCREDIBLE WEALTH" could mean wealth of supplies.
ReplyDeleteI like how you said the could use these ''things'' for many things.
DeleteThank You:)
Delete1.) I think he means by "TREASURE" is that in the survival kit their may be a lot of key survival in wilderness things that Brian can use, like maybe a sleeping bag and food. Also I think "INCREDIBLE WEALTH" means that other really good things may be in the kit as in more hunting gear and matches possibly, but not as in money. I think more then these things may be in the bag (I can't wait to read chapter 19).
ReplyDelete1. Brian says treasure because you're not going to have much of actual things in the wild like water food knives shelter hunting supplies pots or any of the stuff in the wild you might have food and water but its not going to be purified and the cooked right to where it's completely safe to eat. When she has these things like the knives and all that it will be so much easier for him to survive in the wild and he has many treasures which those are the treasures.
ReplyDeleteI predict that Brian might be trying to say that he found some really good things in the survival pack like a sleeping bag, food, supplies, things that he needs to get back on his feet. Also Brian could have also found things to hunt with or maybe something that he could use to get help.
ReplyDeleteDear Gabrielle, I liked your response because you listed some of the things that might have been in the survival pack.
Delete1.
ReplyDeleteI think what Brian meant by the bold sentence that that he had treasure because he had the survival kit because chptr 18 ends with Brian having it and that is probably the most valuable thing he has.
~Malachi Etoniru
I think that the quoted word "TREASURE" means that Brian has found something that might help him (treasure isn't always gold or riches; it can be something to help or something you want/need). Treasure can also be something you are looking for or something you set out to find. I predict that Brian will realize that his "treasures" (survival kit) will have been worth the work because there is survival supplies that Brian might need or find helpful.
ReplyDeleteI also think when he says "INCREADIBLE WEALTH" it means that since he got the survival kit, he has the stuff he needs and that he will realize that survival supplies are more important in the wilderness than money or riches.
I like that you said the " treasures" have more wealth than money or riches.
DeleteI like how much detail you put in to your response for both quoted words.
Delete1. What Brian meant by " treasures " and " incredible wealth" is not a lot of money. Instead, Brian meant things that will help him survive in the wilderness. For instance, a first aid kit, a flashlight, a candy bar, some pots and pans ( for cooking ), some utensils or a sleeping bag, to help him survive would be incredible wealth while trying to survive in the Canadian wilderness.
ReplyDeleteI love your response and how you gave examples of some things.
Delete1) What Brian means by "Treasures and Incredible Wealth" is that in the bag he gets from the plane will be the stuff he needs to make his life in the wilderness easier. For example, sleeping bag to sleep in, matches to start a fire, food, clean water, etc. In civilization, having a lot a wealth means you have a lot of money and can buy stuff that makes your life easier. That is sort of the same thing in the wilderness but not with money. The items in the bag are more wealthier than money to him in this situation. It would be like having a million dollars.
ReplyDeleteI predict that Brian will realize that the " treasures" in the bag are have more wealth then any money in the world. This will make his life more easier.
ReplyDeleteps: had to predict.
I think Brian had opened the pack and found very valuable things to him. It wasn't money, because money isn't valuable to him but since it is a survival pack it might have things that will be essential to him surviving in the wilderness such as bandages or some kind of tools.
ReplyDeleteI predict that Brian means he found lots of "treasures" in the bag. For example:
ReplyDelete- food
-purified water(not murky water)
- tools; gun, spear, knife, etc.
- bandages if he got hurt
- a Rite Aid kit: might provide medicine and essentials if you get sick or hurt
- electronics: watch,phone
- lots of more stuff that could help him survive
I think Brian could signal help by using something he got. If someone didn't come right away Brian would have necessities that would help him survive till someone could come to get him.
I liked how you listed the things you think Brian might get. Good response Emily.
DeleteWhen it says treasure it means his resources that he would get from the survival pack.Since the resources will help with his survival it would be precious to him and kind of like the hatchet. It is incredible wealth because it would benefit to his survival he is not wealthy in money but wealthy in resources.
ReplyDelete- Bisola Fakayode
#1He might mean that he has incredible wealth because the survival pack has things that he needs to survive in the future.
ReplyDeleteI think you could add examples and maybe more details, since its so short. ~Kelly Lee
Delete1. I think what Brian means is that the supplies in the survival pack are like treasure to him. Also when Brian says incredible wealth he is expressing the value of the items in the pack considering the situation he has been in over this long period of time. In previous chapters we have talked about how the items would not be valuable in terms of money but valuable in terms of things Brian needs to survive.
ReplyDelete1. I think that Brian thinks that he has all he needs and more to survive food, water and shelter and he also has so other things that make survival easy.
ReplyDeleteForgot to add about treasure. Brian meant by treasure as worth a lot in the wilderness .
DeleteI think when Brian opens the survival pack he finds "treasure" means he finds things that are valuable to his survival situation. He might find matches, food, clean water, flares, sleeping bag/blanket, cooking supplies, rope, compass, pocket knife, other hunting weapons and first aid kit. Its something Brian would consider treasure because it would be helping him stay alive. ~ Cami Adams
ReplyDeleteI think what he means by TREASURE is that, what he has found is one of the greatest and most incredible things. ( ALSO USEFUL ) Like I.R.L money is something that is useful and to most people, is treasure. In Brian's eyes, he sees what is in the pack as "money", its his payment for survival. It is worth so much.
ReplyDeleteex.
Pocket Knife
Extra Food
First Aid Kit
Communication Device
Filtered Water
A Map
Etc. ~Kelly Lee
I think Brian means that he would have so many things from the survival pack like food a sleeping pack radio and so many other wonderful things that will help him survive.
ReplyDeletei think when Brian says that he has ''TREASURE'' he means the resources in the survival pack. He will have so much resources that it will give him enough time to get things done such as finding more food when his pack runs out. He will have ''INCREDIBLE WEALTH'' in survival because he is rich in resources to help him survive. Not to mention he will be ''rich'' that he has all those things in the survival pack which might include: matches, more food, clean water, hunting tools, or maybe even a first-aid kit.
ReplyDelete1.)I think what Brian means by ''INCREDIBLE WEALTH'' and ''TREASURES" means that the things in the pack are extremely valuable. They are not valuable like gold or gems or jewelry, they are valuable because they will enable him to survive in the wilderness. In this way they are truely like treasures.
