HELLO, FABULOUS FIFTH GRADE! BELOW ARE YOUR RESPONSE QUESTIONS FOR HATCHET:
1. What was the key event that led to the problem in the novel? Explain.
2. If you were to give a title to Chptr. 5, what title would you use? Think about the events in
Chptr. 5; perhaps even the main idea.
1. I think the key event that led to the main problem is that the pilot had a heart attack and they were steered off course so he did not know where he was going or how he was going to fix this problem.
ReplyDelete2.I think a good title for chapter 5 could be ''Hunger'' because Brian did have a lot of water (clean or not) but he had nothing to eat. Also, he kept thinking about eating a hamburger and fries which made him even more hungry.
Great job Rose i like how you described what Brian was thinking for question two. Also i like how you you talked about what the main problem was. ~ Gabrielle Stevenson
DeleteRose, I love your idea for a chapter title and how you supported your answer by talking about the hamburger and fries.
DeleteThank you both!
Delete1. I think the key event that led to the main problem was that the pilot had a heart attack and that Brian is now on his own and alone by himself.
ReplyDelete2. If I were to give a title to chapter 5 would be " What Can I Do " because Brian doesn't really have an idea on what to do to get food or shelter yet. ~ Gabrielle Stevenson
I like what you did with question 2 how you put what you thought that Brian was thinking. GOOD JOB :-D
DeleteI think the key event was the pilot had a heart attack and the plane ran out of fuel so the plane lost altitude.
ReplyDelete2. I think a good a good title would be struggles because Brian had many struggles such as pain and hunger
Great job and I like the name you gave to chapter 5 :)
DeleteI like how you said that the fuel ran out so the plane lost altitude. You did great but you could tell a little more about how you think it was the key event, but it was great. *SALLY*
Delete1. I think the key event that led to the problem in the novel was that the piolet had a heart attack and the piolet stepped on the rudder making it jerk sideways. So since sideways, Brian could be anywhere like 400-600miles off like it said in the chapter. He also wouldn't be lost in the woods alone if he didn't loose gas for the plane.
ReplyDelete2. If I gave Chtp. #5 a title it would be The Problems, because he's facing problems like hunger, being thirsty, shelter and the fact that he is ALONE. These are all the problems that he is facing:)
I like your idea for the title! I also like your idea for how the problem was created. ~~Emily Scott~~
DeleteGreat job Sally!
DeleteI like your title for chapter 5 because you thought about what was happening to him during this chapter!
I like how you said when the pilotpushed the rudder because the people that would be looking for Brian would find him easily but since it went went sideways it may take weeks for them to find Brian

Q1
ReplyDeleteThe key events are the pilot had a heat attack and the plane got steered of the course.
Q2
If the book had names for tittles chapter, chapter 5's title would be" Nothing" would be the tittle because has really nothing beside his hatchet.
Good job I liked how you said that the pilot having a heart attack.
DeleteI like how you thought of the title but he also had himself and a source of water
DeleteI think the key event was when the pilot had a heart attack and died because during the heart attack the plane got off the rout and Brian did not know how to fix the plane back on the rout. I also think the heart attack was key because Brian was not completely sure how to land the plane or flight it using all the different tools in the plane so he could not make it go all the way past the woods.
ReplyDeleteFor the what i think the title of chapter five is "Hunger" or "I can Live" because he keeps on thinking about food, so he keeps getting hungrier. During that he also said that he can live without food for a few days, then he would be able to get a nice big burger and fries threw out the chapter.
Emily Scott ^
ReplyDeleteRose I like your answers for Q1 because I liked how you said the author had a heart attack....
ReplyDeleteThank you!
Delete1. I think that the key event for Chpt. #5 that led to the problem for the novel was that since the piolet had a heart attack the piolet stepped on the rudder which made the plane jerk sideways. So Brian could be 400-600 miles off, as it said in the chapter and if the fuel didn't run out the plane wouldn't have lost altitude or fell in the lake and he wouldn't have been lost in the woods.
ReplyDelete2. If I were to give Chpt. #5 a title it would be The Problems. I picked this title because he has problems like how he's hungery and how he's going to get food, being thirsty, shelter and being ALONE in the woods of Canada.
1. It was when the pilot had a heart attack and died 2. I would give it the title Stuck in the Middle of Nowhere because in the chapter Brian said he was in the middle of nowhere and that was the plot in the chapter.
ReplyDeleteVasea good response but you were supposed to make a title for chapter 5 and I think you did for a different chapter
DeleteHP
2.Hunger and Thirst because he was hungry and thirsty for most of the chapter
ReplyDelete1. The pilot has a heart attack.
HP
1. The key issue in the story so far is the pilot dying of a major heart attack, and Brian having to live in the woods alone.
ReplyDelete2. I think that a good title for chapter five would be positive thoughts because Brian forces himself to think positive, and see the bright side of his situation.
I like your title for number two I would not have thought of it.
Delete~Malachi Etoniru
1. I think that the main event was the pilot had a heart attack because if that did not happen there would not really be a conflict in the book
ReplyDelete2. I think that a good title for chapter 5 is Nothing...Nowhere because it said in chapter 5 that he is the middle of nowhere an he does not really do anything in that chapter.
~Malachi Etoniru
Good job Malachi , but i don't understand what you meant when you said that the pilot not having a heart attack wouldn't be a conflict.
Deletesorry by William
Delete1. The key event that lead to the problem of the novel was that the pilot died and the plane crashed that Brian was in.
ReplyDelete2. The title that i would think would be "Stranded" because he is thinking of a way to get home but he doesn't know if anyone will end up come for him so he is basically stranded.
I think yours was really good because you described what the problem of the novel good and I liked your title for chapter 5 GOOD JOD !!!!!!!!! :)
DeleteTo: Emily Richards
1. I think the main key event that led Brian into the problem is when the pilot had a heart attack and died. A small detail is also after the pilot had died, Brian didn't know how to fly the plane and he had the option to crash, so that is what he did. But the first detail was the main event.
ReplyDelete2. If I could name the chapter I would name it " Crashing into Problems" because he crashed into the Canadian woods also he is having survival problems. Some of his problems include, shelter, hunting for food, and finding resources.
~ Kelly Lee
Dear Kelly, I loved your response to number 2. I especially liked how you named all of the things that he had to do in order to survive.
DeleteI think the key to the problem of the novel is that Brian is left alone in a plane where the pilot has just died from a heart attack and the plane is running out of fuel. Also I think the title of chapter 5 should be "challenges'' because he needs food and also all he has to hunt with is his hatchet also he doesn't know when people will come even though he thought people would com in a day or 2 but he got off track and he doesn't know exactly how far off course he went while the pilot was dying.
ReplyDelete1.The key avent that happend was that Brian was going to his dads house for the summer .
ReplyDelete2.The title I would use is survival because he has to survive in the woods.
I like the way you used great details, and i like your title for CH 5. I also loved how you used *(400-600 mph)*
ReplyDelete~ Kelly Lee
to sally kwak :)
ReplyDelete1. The key event that led to the problem in the novel was that the pilot of the plane that Brian was flying in had a heart attack and died, leaving Brian all alone to fly the plane.
ReplyDelete2. If I had to give a title to chapter 5 it would be, "What to do Now?," because Brian has to figure out what to do and how to survive after he was in the airplane crash.
I like your question 2 because the title you gave chapter 5 fits perfectly because Brian doesn't know what to do anymore and he needs to figure out how to get food.
DeleteGOOD JOB
1. What was the key event that led to the problem in the novel? Explain.
ReplyDeleteThe main problem, or key event in the novel is that the pilot of Brians plane had a heat attack and died so Brian had to fly the plane, then the plane ran out of fuel, then Brian crashed the plane somewhere.
2. If you were to give a title to Chptr. 5, what title would you use? Think about the events in Chptr. 5; perhaps even the main idea. I think a good chapter name would be "SURVIVAL MODE" because this is the first day Brian actually realizes his situation.
1. I think the key was the pilot dying because if the pilot didn't die Brian would probaly have landed safely at his dad's house
ReplyDelete2. I think a good chapter title would be stranded becaue Brian is stuck somewhere in the middle of Canada and he does not no how to find his way back to safety
- Bisola Fakayode
1.The key event in the novel is that the pilot has just had a heart attack and now Brian is alone. I know this is the key event because if the pilot had not had a heart attack Brian would probably be at his Dad's house now.
ReplyDelete2.The tittle for chapter five should be ''food'' because that is all Brian can think about. He keeps asking himself ''What are all my tools, how will I use them to get food?''
Hunter Colson
Dear Hunter, I liked how you explained everything in each question
DeleteHe landed in a lake and swam up and he was attacked by mosquitos and was tired after flying into a lake
ReplyDeleteIf I were to give the chapter a name I would call it "The Attack"
ReplyDeletenice job Nicholas but your response does not make scene because the 1st one is what led for the problem and there was something worse that led to the predicament
Delete!.I think the main problem is that the pilot had a heart attack. I think that because Brian didn't know which way he was going and the pilot did.
ReplyDelete2.I think a title for chapter 5 could be Waiting because he was waiting for someone to come save him and he wasn't really doing anything.
1.the key event that led to the problem is that the pilot had a heart attack because then Brian had to fly the plane and later it ran out of fuel. 2. I think the title could be Finding Resources because Brian finds a good source of water and the tools he left with when he left New York.
ReplyDelete1. the main problem is that the pilot had a heart attack and died, which led to him to crash the plane and get stranded by himself
ReplyDelete2. I think the main title for CH.5 could be,searching for food because Brian found lots of water but no food and he still has to find some
